festive potato prints!

Thursday, November 1, 2012

It was a lot of fun doing this piece for yesterday's Halloween issue of the Globe and Mail! It was for a story about a girl who could never decide on just one costume, which turned her into a bit of a seasonal terror. Thanks Matt French for the fun assignment!

Wild Kingdom!

Sorry for posting these all at once. I neglect this blog. :(
This is gonna be on my next batch of postcard promos, though!

Orejona, the woman from Venus

“Her name was Orejona and she came from the planet Venus where the atmosphere is relatively similar to that of the earth. … Oregona walked erect, as we do, was endowed with intelligence and doubtless had the intention of creating an earthly humanity, for she took a tapir as her husband … She gave birth to several infants.”

Pattern

Burning Gaze

A painting of a woman with a whippet and a burning gaze.
I did a few spots for the June issue of Alberta Oil Magazine!

The first is for an article about how skewed data sets lead to poor policy making, and the second is for one about new oil sands extraction technology that conserves water. The last article was about how the inclusion of women on corporate boards gives companies the upper hand, since they have more resources to draw from.

oh yah this one too!
I'm outta control

I'm surrounded by a big tangled moat of felt scraps. that says more about my tidiness than it does about my productivity, but I did make these two over the last little while.

I really like making them. it's nice busy work when I'm watching TV and it's cool to have this tangible thing after. satisfying!

Dog, the Odour Hunter

I did this illustration for Modern Dog magazine. The article was titled "Dog, the Odour Hunter." Great!

Get Over It

This is something I did for an upcoming neon-themed show at the OCAD Student Gallery. It's always nice to have an excuse to use fluorescent gouache. I wish you could scan it!

I think the show opens March 22nd.

Crabby Gabby

A painted version of a monster I drew a while ago.

Here are some plush guys I've made recently! I've got another in progress, and I just found some wonderful fabric, so there will be more to come in the near future.
